Host Family

Hi everyone,

I just received my pre-departure packet from ISA with my host family assignment! I will be living with Nina, a Russian immigrant to Costa Rica and retired violin teacher, and her marido Cesar, an accountant. They have a dog!!!!! They live in a brick house in the suburban neighborhood of Montelimar, a quick 20 minute bus ride from my university.

Perhaps the favorite part of my letter: "Your host mother will also prepare a variety of Costa Rican dishes for you with a Russian twist." I'm thinking rice and beans a la stroganoff?

17 days til departure!

Pura vida,
Eric

Greetings!

Welcome to my blog! This will be the best way to keep track of my adventures in Costa Rica in Winter/Spring 2010.

I'll be staying in San José, the capital of Costa Rica and its principal city with a population slightly smaller than Kansas City's (but larger than Omaha's). Here is some more information about the city and country:

While in Costa Rica, I will be studying Spanish and Environmental Science at ULACIT (Latin American University of Science and Technology). I plan on traveling around the country visiting the numerous national parks and across the border to Nicaragua and possibly Panama.

I depart on January 7. Check back soon for more updates on my host family.

Pura vida,
Eric
